Welcome to a safe space.

Trauma-informed Life Coaching

And so it begins… welcome to the journey of discovery through seeking to understand where it all began to unravel. Trauma-informed Life Coaching begins with creating a safe space for us to address what is limiting your capacity to confidently function in daily life.

Setting specific obtainable goals such as increased peace and decreased anger are an important part of the client and coach partnership. Together we will navigate through the work of addressing multiple contributing factors of the woulds that are keeping you stuck. Multiple aspects of reaching your goal will be addressed, including your current view of self, current circumstances, past experiences, and spiritual beliefs.

Soul Care

Soul care is also called Inner Healing work. The Splankna Training Institute’s protocol for inner healing incorporates multiple somatic stress reduction elements borrowed from NET and TFT. Sessions are a blending of the spiritual disciplines of prayer, confession, repentance, forgiveness, and somatic work. We will address beliefs and emotions that are negatively impacting your ability to function in daily life, connection to God, acceptance of self, and connection to others. The outcomes of a session may include restored peace, increased capacity to function in a Christ-like way in the midst of difficult circumstances and shifts in perspectives on wounds one has carried for sometime.

Somatic Stress Reduction

This approach focuses on the inclusion of somatic stress reduction techniques of EFT Tapping and deep breathing to aid the body and mind in releasing emotional tension. Research based outcomes include a lasting decrease in the release of stress hormones, and the negative impacts of, into the body, as it pertains to the distressing emotions specifically addressed in each session. Somatic stress reduction is beneficial for managing a variety of issues including anxiety, obsessive thoughts, depression, food cravings, grief, and more. Somatic stress reduction techniques have been shown to have measurable impact after just one, 1 hour session. Committing to 3 -6 weekly or bi-weekly, 1 hour sessions is recommended for reaching a measurable therapeutic impact on distressing symptoms.

Therapy Dog Elsa

Elsa is a 7 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She has been a certified therapy dog since January of 2024 and deeply enjoys being a working dog. Elsa joins us for the in-person sessions. The human animal interaction in a coaching session has been shown to decrease chemicals that fuel emotional distress and increase the release of chemicals that support a sense of safety and comfort.

Meet the Coach

April Watters brings 12 years of experience in the work of soul care and somatic stress reduction. She has a bachelors in social work from UT Tyler and is currently pursuing her masters in clinical social work. April is certified in Trauma-informed Life Coaching through the International Board of Christian Care. She holds a certification in EFT through EFT International, and is certified in the Splankna Inner Healing Protocol through the Splankna Training Institute.

Before entering the area of life coaching a April had the lived experience of needing something other than talk therapies to navigate distressing life challenges. In 2014 the Lord lead her to the work of inner healing combined with the impact of somatic stress reduction techniques. She found the techniques to be something worth investing in learning and becoming equipped to share. Since January of 2024 it has been April and Elsa’s great joy to hold a safe space for others, promoting Christ-centered hope and healing.
